February 2021 Newsletter - News
2020 was a year of adaptation and growth for Firefly Realty. Like the rest of the world, we faced uncertainty and challenges in the first two months of the pandemic. Then, in May, we had one of our best months ever in terms of contract numbers. We all adjusted to working from home, adopting and adapting to COVID-19 policies to keep ourselves and our clients safe, and we found the need to grow, adding two new team members, with more to join in the coming months!
Here’s a quick update from each of our team members:
Katie Prendergast |
Josh Mimken |
||
Like many others, Katie spent 2020 running a business, taking care of her clients and employees, and coordinating childcare for her three young children. Doing all of this during normal times could make your head spin, but throwing a pandemic into the mix made it extra intense. As expected, Katie handles it like a pro, and while she might occasionally pack her kid’s lunch in a potato chip bag, she continues to win clients over and succeed in selling houses. |
Josh has always been known among clients and colleagues for his exuberance and positive energy, and those traits took him to the next level in the thick of the pandemic. Josh has helped new clients as well as repeat clients buy homes and he always seems to have a new contract coming. Josh also faced the challenge of having three kids in different school situations and has excelled at finding a balance between family and work.
Alona Lorenz |
Justin Hunter |
||
Clients (and co-agents) rave about Alona’s detailed and thorough communication, and that skill was a necessity for navigating real estate purchases during such an unprecedented time. While prioritizing childcare and virtual learning for her three young children, Alona manages to go above and beyond in providing stellar service to her clients – all while wearing fabulous shoes. Don’t let her chic style fool you, as she won’t hesitate to explore a crawlspace or drag an old mattress to the curb if her clients or colleagues need help. | As Director of Operations, Justin is tasked with keeping the agents on track with their goals - and had to figure out what that would even look like in the early months of the pandemic. For a few months, he also took on the role of transaction and listing coordinator and managed to lead the team through 19 closings in June, while onboarding a new team member to give him some relief. Justin continues to steer the ship, while supervising two young children through virtual school.
And here’s a bit about our newest team members:
Matt Payne |
Sara Little |
Jordan Lockaby |
||||
Matt was hired in May as a Buyer Specialist, fresh from his real estate licensing classes. Matt’s previous experience in golf and private club management have given him the skills to excel in his new career – and that he has! So far he’s worked with a range of clients from first-time homebuyers to seasoned investors. Matt also excels at managing his schedule, as his wife is a nurse and he has two young daughters at home in virtual school. | Sara joined the Firefly team in June after a 15-year career in marketing and communications. Sara’s role at Firefly includes transaction coordinator, listing manager and marketing director. Sara works closely with our buyer and listing clients to ensure that each transaction goes smoothly and has big plans for increasing client engagement and communications in the coming months. Somehow Sara also manages to spend a few hours each week at her son’s kindergarten pod. | Jordan is our newest Firefly as of January 2021. Jordan is also new to real estate - her early career was spent serving the community and getting muddy as an organic farmer. Jordan loves real estate because she thrives on helping others make big moves. She’s a patient listener and a dependable communicator. When she’s not playing in the garden, you can find Jordan hiking up on the Blue Ridge Parkway or enjoying live music in Asheville. |
