The Asheville area has many options for education. When searching for homes to buy, pay attention to the school district - having a home within the city limits does not necessarily mean you are in the district for Asheville City Schools.
If you are within the city school district and your child is in elementary school, you can choose from any of the five elementary schools, which have classrooms for Pre-K through 5th grade. Each school has a specific Magnet focus, so you can choose which suits your child best, or opt for the school that is most convenient to your home or work.
If you're outside of the city school district, you will be districted for a school within the Buncombe County School District that is closest to your home. For both city and county schools, there are waivers available for attending a school outside of your district.
