April 2021 Newsletter - Meet Josh
Josh Mimken: Firefly's First Agent
Josh Mimken is known for many things – his clients and co-Fireflies love his charm and zeal, and he has a way of figuring out how to turn around even the trickiest of real estate problems so that everything works out in the end. Josh was the first buyer specialist to join the Firefly team in 2016, and it’s well known that he wore gym shorts to his first interview with Katie.
“Things that stood out when I first met Josh were his high energy levels, enthusiasm, drive for success and authenticity. Since then, I have seen him harness his natural talents while adding knowledge and skill. He has grown to be an anchor on the team, representing our culture and our dedication to serving our clients at the highest level,” said Katie.
Josh landed a career in real estate thanks to his desire to work with people and problem solve – paired with his knowledge of Asheville from living here his entire life, it was a perfect fit. He was drawn to Firefly because he was looking for an opportunity to be a part of building something from the ground up. “Being a part of a team that values personal growth as much as success in business was incredibly attractive. I couldn't jump in fast enough,” he said.
These days, his wardrobe might be a bit more dapper when he’s meeting clients, and he still manages to have some of the most outrageous and entertaining stories from his showings – just ask him about the time he was nearly attacked by wild turkeys who might have been attracted to the gasoline smell coming from his shoes.
Josh continues to value his clients above all else. He says his biggest wish for his clients is for them to feel heard and taken care of. “I love the ability to help build their future through real estate while also building a personal relationship that lasts beyond the closing table,” he said.
As part of his professional growth plan this year, Josh is adding mentoring other agents to his career portfolio. In his early years as an agent, he greatly benefited from the advice of other agents whom he admired and respected, and now he’s eager to do the same for others. “Being able to pay that forward is incredibly important to me and I love the opportunity of working with folks who are starting their careers and hitting the ground running,” he said.
A mantra that Josh has returned to over the last year is, “A man without vision for his future, always returns to his past.” Josh truly embodies a forward-thinking attitude – if he has a hard day personally or professionally, he is always ready to take on tomorrow and make it better for himself, his family and his clients.
Speaking of family, Josh, like many parents, has been homeschooling his three children over the last year and while there have been some challenges, he wouldn’t change a thing – his bond with them has grown immensely and is something he attributes to helping get him through the pandemic. He’s even perfected his omelet-making skills thanks to more at-home meals.
