December 2022 Newsletter | Team Member Spotlight: Jason
Many folks in the Keller Williams world are familiar with the company Cyberbacker, founded in 2018 by Keller Williams agent Craig Goodliffe who was finding success through leveraging his virtual personal assistant, who was based in the Philippines. He saw a need among agents and teams for highly-skilled virtual assistants who are trained in the real estate business, and he had a desire to build community in the Philippines by providing training and opportunities for individuals to provide for their families and save for retirement while working from home.
Today, there are around 2,000 Cyberbackers who serve more than 3,000 clients. Firefly Realty is one of those lucky clients, and we have been working with Cyberbacker Jason Vergara Carabio for nearly 4 years.
5 years ago, Jason had minimal real estate knowledge but a strong desire to work from home to spend more time with his family. He was recommended to Cyberbacker, and grew to love the industry. Since he's been with Firefly Realty, he says it's "by far the best," and he envisions a long career with the team.
The feeling is mutual - Jason has proven time and again to be invaluable to the team, and is one of several "secret weapons" that we have. He handles property research and paperwork that is necessary to each real estate transaction, and does so in a manner that makes individual agents and the team as a whole much more efficient. Jason also assists with special projects for the agents as well as the operations team members to ensure that our client database is accurate and updated, and helps manage the documents required by our office for legal compliance for each transaction.
Jason starts each day reviewing his inbox to be sure he's caught up on his daily tasks, then he checks new cases assigned to him through our customer relationship management system (CRM) that have come through since his last shift. Once he's completed those tasks, he prepares his coffee, greets the team with a "good morning!" via our team's chat platform, and waits for new cases and tasks to come through. He knows what to prioritize based on what will help move business forward and gain new business, and that is essential to our team's function.
Jason works during Firefly's office hours, which means he's typically working in the middle of the night. Even with the difficult hours, Jason enjoys the job. "I like that my boss (Katie), my mentor (Justin), and the rest of the team trust and believe in my capabilities, and because of that I am able to perform well and be productive. Loving what you do while earning enough money is a win-win for me," he said.
Even though Jason is nearly 9,000 miles away from the rest of the team physically, he's able to connect with each team member on a daily basis. He works directly with agents and operations team members on providing property research, creating paperwork, updating MLS listings and much more. He becomes personally invested in ensuring the best outcome for each of our clients. "My wish for our listing clients is to find sure buyers for their properties, and to help our buyer clients find their next dream home. With the help of Firefly agents, what they desire will surely happen," he said.
Many companies brag about their team culture, and Firefly is no exception. Yet, we truly believe that we do have something unique and special, and we're so glad that Jason can feel that from the other side of the world. "Working in this company for almost 4 years, I can say that its people have genuine camaraderie. That makes them stand out from other teams," he said.
We would argue that Jason is also something that makes us stand out from other teams - he's been working with Firefly longer than most of our other team members, and his incredible work ethic, dedication, and willingness to help with any task is greatly appreciated. We would not be as successful as we are today without his support.
Prior to joining Cyberbacker, Jason was a call center agent for 10 years, and worked overseas for 4 years. He loves to play volleyball and baseball, and loves cooking (and eating!) great food. He loves traveling and hopes to visit Hong Kong soon with his family. He has two sons, and they are his everything.
